Solar Raw Kale Chips

Solar Raw Kale Chips is a company that is trying to breach the chip and healthy food market. My objective was to create a marketing strategy that will make Solar Raw more recognizable and appealing, since not everyone likes eating healthy or kale. In this campaign I designed a free-sample event, an instore display, print advertising and commercial storyboards. The results are fun and iconic.

Outcome

Every brand can benefit from a spokesman or recognizable mascot. What came to mind was Popeye, a cartoon character that has fallen into the public domain, who is known for eating spinach. I wanted to bring back nostalgia, as well as, gain recognizability with the Solar Raw brand. The campaign slogan was “Kale is the new spinach” to avoid confusion of the product being spinach itself.
