I advertised the renaissance in an untraditional way, taking a modern collage approach. The banner allowed me to think in terms of icons and what represents the period, from the spice trade to the printing press, etc. I was able to create a simple square grid and embellish it with transparencies, iconography, subtractions, and pattern work. Each square tells a different story of art, invention and revolution.
